According to a study published by the European Anti-Corruption Center, Georgia ranks 32nd in the global ranking of public integrity, ahead of the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and second only to Estonia in the post-Soviet space.

According to the administration of the government of Georgia, in terms of public integrity, in 2021 Georgia is ahead of such countries as Israel, Lithuania, Latvia, Croatia, Greece, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, etc.

Ilya Darchiashvili, head of the administration of the government of Georgia, leaned back on the results of the study. According to him, Georgia continues to achieve concrete, tangible results in international studies and indices.

“The specific study is based on various indicators used to assess the state, these are the administrative burden, transparency and accountability of state bodies, freedom of the press and the courts,” said Ilya Darchiashvili.

The 2021 Public Sector Integrity Index, published by the world’s leading research organization, the European Anti-Corruption Center, measures public integrity practices, judicial independence and freedom of the press, administrative burden, government accountability and transparency. According to the study, Georgia ranks first in Eastern Europe and Central Asia for the integrity of the public sector. In terms of rankings, Georgia showed the best result in the post-Soviet space, where it took second place after Estonia. According to the previous index in 2019, Georgia was ahead of all the Baltic countries and ranked fourth among the post-Soviet states.

The Public Integrity Index is compiled every two years. The European Anti-Corruption Center began publishing it after 2015. The report is based on research and reports from the United Nations, the World Bank, the World Economic Forum, other internationally recognized entities and global evaluation organizations.

The information is disseminated by the administration of the government of Georgia.
