Georgia is ready to play more active role as mediator in supporting negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan: Kobakhidze

“Our country plays a significant role in strengthening regional peace. Despite conflicts between our neighbouring countries, Georgia has always managed to maintain a correct, balanced policy, which has helped maximize peace in our region,” stated Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze during his appearance on the GPB First Channel’s program Actual Topic with Maka Tsintsadze.

According to the Prime Minister, Georgia is ready to take an even more active role as a mediator in facilitating negotiations.

“Our country plays a significant role in strengthening regional peace. Despite conflicts between our neighbouring countries, Georgia has always managed to maintain a correct, balanced policy, which has helped maximize peace in our region, specifically in the South Caucasus. We will certainly continue this approach in the future. If there is interest in Georgia becoming more actively involved as a mediator or in other capacities to facilitate negotiations and so forth, we always express our readiness in this regard. Of course, this readiness remains in effect. If such interest exists, we are ready to offer our support to both neighbour, friendly countries,” the Prime Minister declared.
