Aliyev said that Yerevan and Baku are close to signing peace treaty
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the eve of the COP29 climate conference in Baku. Official representative of the German government, Christiane Hoffmann, informed about this.
Scholz discussed with Aliyev the state of peace negotiations with Yerevan and reaffirmed Germany’s readiness to contribute to the establishment of neighborly relations between the two countries, DW reports.
Aliyev, in turn, emphasized that Baku is the initiator of the peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
He noted that “territorial ambitions against Azerbaijan set by the Constitution of Armenia are still preserved”.
According to Aliyev, “delays on the text of the document by Armenia have had a negative impact on the process, but despite this, the parties are close to reaching final agreements on the text of the document.”
