Biden called on Israel to act proportionately
U.S. President Joe Biden said, that he does not support strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites in response to its missile attack against Israel, Reuters reports.
“We’ll be discussing with the Israelis what they’re going to do, but all seven of us (G7 nations) agree that they have a right to respond but they should respond proportionally,” Biden told reporters before boarding Air Force One.
Iran launched over 180 ballistic missiles at Israel on Tuesday (October 1), which Biden previously called “ineffective.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that Iran would face consequences.
Some analysts suggest Israel’s response could be more forceful this time, potentially targeting Iran’s nuclear or oil facilities. Biden mentioned that additional sanctions on Iran are forthcoming and said he would speak with Netanyahu soon.
