U.S. policy hasn’t changed for use of weapons in deep Russian territories, Singh

U.S. Defense Department Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh referred to the use of western arms by Ukraine to strike deep in Russian territory.

“Nothing has changed in terms of our policy. We can have a very long conversation about this. I will tell you that the weapons that we are providing them, and not just—you have to remember, this is not just the United States. This is a coalition of countries coming together through the UDCG, providing weapons and capabilities and support to Ukraine.

We believe the best way that they can be effective on the battlefield is by knitting those capabilities together and continuing to push forces back to regain their sovereign territory. That doesn’t necessarily happen by doing long range deep strikes within Russia. And of course, we’re worried about escalation.

So just because Russia hasn’t responded to something doesn’t mean that they can’t or won’t in the future”, Singh said.
