EU joins Egypt, Qatar and US call to Israel and Hamas
Josep Borrell, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy said the EU is joining Washington Doha and Cairo in their call to Israel and Hamas to resume ceasefire talks.
“The EU joins Egypt, Qatar and the US in their call for concluding, without delay, the ceasefire & hostages release deal. We reiterate our full support to their mediation to put an end to the unbearable cycle of suffering. The deal will also pave the way for regional de-escalation”, Borrell posted on his account on X.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also expressed his concern over the situation in the Middle East.
“I am deeply concerned about the situation in the Middle East and I support the call by President Biden, President Al Sisi and Emir Al Thani to start the implementation of the ceasefire and hostages-release deal. It’s time to bring relief both to the hostages and people of Gaza”, he said in a post on X.
