Tehran announced its readiness for negotiations with US on nuclear deal

Iran is keeping diplomatic channels open for negotiations with the United States on resuming the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and lifting sanctions against Tehran, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani said. He is quoted by EFE.

He added that indirect negotiations have already taken place between Tehran and Washington, and he promised to provide details if necessary.

Kanaani said Tehran was “well positioned for future negotiations” thanks to the foundation laid by former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. After his death, Masoud Pezeshkian, the former deputy of the Iranian Parliament, the only reformist candidate, won the presidential election in Iran. He advocates restarting the nuclear deal, saying Iran should engage in dialogue with Western countries and build relations with Washington.
