Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan responded to Yerevan’s proposal to sign non-aggression pact

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan responded to the proposal of Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to sign a non-aggression pact between Yerevan and Baku, if it turns out that the signing of the peace treaty will take longer than expected.

Azerbaijani MFA spokesman Aykhan Hajizada described the proposal as unacceptable. He noted that the purpose of the statement of the Armenian side is to divert attention from the processes of drafting the peace treaty and establishing Azerbaijan-Armenia interstate relations. He also accused Armenia of strengthening the army, developing the military industry, and reaching new cooperation agreements in the field of defense. According to him, these steps of Yerevan are hindering the peace process.
