Hovhannisyan emphasizes importance of strengthening the science-policy interface at STI Forum

At the 11th ECOSOC Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals, the Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations, H.E. Mr. Paruyr Hovhannisyan, delivered remarks during the Ministerial Session on “Strengthening the science-policy nexus to drive sustainable development.”

Ambassador Hovhannisyan emphasized the importance of strengthening the science-policy interface to ensure that science, technology and innovation effectively contribute to sustainable development. He stressed the need to address persistent gaps in digital infrastructure, access to data and human capacities, while promoting inclusive and evidence-based innovation policies, Armenia’s permanent mission to the UN reports.

The Ambassador also highlighted Armenia’s efforts in digital transformation, education and innovation ecosystems, including through the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, as well as the importance of ensuring that STI contributes to addressing financing gaps, connectivity challenges and structural vulnerabilities faced by countries in special situations, including landlocked and middle-income countries.
