U.S. delegation led by Vance is heading to Islamabad for negotiations with Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump told The New York Post that an American delegation led by Vice President J.D. Vance is traveling to Islamabad to hold negotiations with Iran. The delegation also includes the President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner.

Trump emphasized that the United States and Iran are inclined toward negotiations and that, apparently, “no one is playing games” at this time. The U.S. President stated that he is ready to meet with Iran’s leadership if necessary. He also considered it possible that an agreement with Iran could be signed on the evening of April 20.

Trump recalled that the United States has one unconditional demand — Tehran’s abandonment of its nuclear weapons program. At the same time, he stressed that Iran could prosper if the sides reach an agreement and assured that the United States is in contact with the “right people” in Iran’s leadership.

However, the U.S. President declined to specify what consequences would follow if Tehran does not abandon its pursuit of nuclear weapons or if the negotiations fail.

Earlier, it was reported that, according to Iran’s state IRNA news agency, Iran has rejected participation in the second round of negotiations with the United States.
