Houthis fired cruise missiles at Israel
Yemen’s armed Houthi group claimed on Wednesday that it had launched a fresh missile attack against Israel, Xinhua reports.
“In support to the Palestinian and Lebanese resistances, our forces carried out a military operation targeting military sites deep inside Israel with three cruise missiles,” Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a statement aired by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV.
“We bless the Iranian operation against Israel, and we confirm our readiness to participate in any joint military operations against the Israeli enemy,” he said in the statement.
“We also confirm that the continued American and British support for the Israeli enemy puts American and British interests in the region under the range of our fire,” he added.
The al-Masirah TV said the Houthi attack from Yemen came simultaneously with the Iranian attack against Israel on Tuesday.
Israel has made no comment yet on the Houthis’ claim.
Since last November, the Houthi group has been conducting missile and drone attacks on what it said were “Israeli-linked” ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, as well as targets in Israel, to show solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.
The Houthis have escalated attacks since last week after Israel killed Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in an airstrike on a building in the southern suburb of Beirut.
