Several European countries are discussing alternative proposal for resolving conflict in Ukraine

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said on Friday 21 November that several European countries are discussing proposals for the “peace plan” prepared by the United States.

Støre in an interview with Norwegian broadcaster NRK, as reported by European Pravda.

Støre, who is currently taking part in the G20 summit in South Africa, said that the European countries attending the summit will present a European proposal in response to US President Donald Trump’s “peace plan” for Ukraine.

“First of all, for a country to give up territories it controls practically at the negotiating table goes against Ukraine’s constitution,” he said.

He added that the “peace plan” could still serve as a starting point for a ceasefire and further negotiations, which Ukraine had previously viewed positively.

“This opportunity needs to be used, but for that to happen, Europeans must unite and create a counterbalance in the areas where this proposal is unlikely to be accepted,” Støre said.
