By assuming obligations, Armenia reaffirms its commitment to Economic and Social Council as pillar of UN system
During the discussion of the 2024–2025 report of the UN Economic and Social Council at the UN General Assembly’s plenary meeting of its 80th session, Armenia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Paruyr Hovhannisyan, expressed satisfaction with the comprehensive work carried out by the Economic and Social Council during its 2025 session.
Hovhannisyan thanked the chairperson of the Economic and Social Council’s 2025 session for the effective leadership and for guiding the Council with an ambitious work program during this unprecedented year.
Ambassador Hovhannisyan emphasized that by assuming its responsibilities in the bureau of the Economic and Social Council for 2026, Armenia reaffirms its commitment to the Economic and Social Council as a pillar of the UN system, which is indispensable for advancing the 2030 agenda, strengthening the coordination of joint actions, and ensuring the flexibility and responsiveness of the multilateral system to emerging challenges.
