Iran Supreme Leader Khamenei says U.S. gained no achievement from the war

Reuters. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Thursday (June 26) that the U.S. “achieved nothing” when it joined the war with Israel against Tehran, his account said in a posting on X.

“The Islamic Republic delivered a heavy slap to the US’s face,” Khamenei added. “It attacked and inflicted damage on the Al-Udeid Air Base, which is one of the key US bases in the region.”

The United States dropped the biggest conventional bombs in its arsenal on Iranian nuclear facilities on Sunday (June 22).

Trump’s administration on Tuesday (June 24) told the U.N Security Council that its weekend strikes had “degraded” Iran’s nuclear program, short of Trump’s earlier assertion that the facilities had been “obliterated.”

However, a preliminary U.S. intelligence assessment determined that U.S. strikes over the weekend on Iranian nuclear facilities have set back Tehran’s program by only a matter of months, three sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

Iran launched a missile attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Doha after the U.S. joined Israel’s attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, threatening a further escalation in regional tensions before a ceasefire between Iran and Israel was announced.
