European Commission announced that it is not interested in launching Nord Stream 2

The position of the European Union on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline has not changed and it does not meet interests of the EU, Spokesperson of the European Commission (EC) Anna-Kaisa Itkonen said at a briefing in Brussels, TASS reports.
“Our view is very, very clear. Nord Stream 2 is not the project of common interest. It does not diversify the EU’s energy sources,” she said.
If the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is restored and put into service, it should operate within the framework of European legislation, Itkonen said. The position is that “it has to operate in line with international and European relevant legislation,” the spokesperson added.
