Russia’s Shoigu holds talks with Chinese foreign minister in Beijing

Sergei Shoigu, the secretary of Russia’s Security Council, has held talks on Friday (February 28) in Beijing with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Reuters reports.

Russia’s Interfax news agency cited Shoigu, Russia’s former defense minister, as saying he was in China on behalf of President Vladimir Putin and noting how aligned Moscow and Beijing were when it came to various international issues.

Interfax said Shoigu was also expected to hold talks with China’s President Xi Jinping.
