Overseas voting for Turkey elections begins on April 27

The overseas voting process for Turkey’s presidential and parliamentary elections begins on April 27, BIANET reports. The elections will take place on May 14 in Turkey.

Voting in 73 countries and 156 locations abroad will end on May 9. The voting process at customs gates for those registered in the overseas election registry will end on Sunday, May 14, at 5.00 p.m. local time.

If the presidential election goes to a second round, overseas voters can vote between May 20 and 24, and the voting process at customs gates will begin on Saturday, May 20, at 8.00 am and continue until Sunday, May 28th at 5.00 pm Turkish time.

There are 3,416,098 registered voters abroad. The number of first-time voters abroad is 277,646.

Votes will be counted simultaneously with Turkey. After the end of the overseas voting process, the votes will be brought to Turkey by diplomatic couriers with high security through the methods determined by the Supreme Electoral Council (YSK).

Valid overseas votes are distributed proportionally in electoral districts based on the number of voters in Turkey and the percentage of votes received by political parties in those provinces for the parliamentary election.
