Russian missile attack on high-rise building in Sumy: casualties and injuries reported
Ten people, including two children, were killed and 52 were injured on Sunday (November 17) night when a Russian missile hit a residential nine-story building in Ukraine’s northeastern region of Sumy, Ukraine’s emergency services and military said, Reuters reports.
Firefighters battled a blaze consuming cars and rescuers carried people out of the building. The multi-story residential building was also seen with windows blown out and facade damaged.
Reuters was able to independently verify the location with the outline, position and design of the buildings that match the file and satellite imagery of the area. Reuters was able to confirm the date with corroborating reports of the local prosecutor and emergency services.
The attack on Sumy followed a morning of Russia pounding Ukraine’s power grid in what Kyiv said was a “massive” attack with 120 missiles and 90 drones that killed at least seven people.
