Putin and Pashinyan discuss Armenia-Russia relations at Kremlin
The meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin has started at the Kremlin.
“I’m happy to welcome you to Moscow for the working meeting of CIS leaders and to hold a bilateral meeting,” said Vladimir Putin, noting that this meeting provides an opportunity to discuss key issues of mutual interest in an expanded format.
The Russian President mentioned that trade and economic relations are developing effectively. Last year, the trade turnover reached $7.4 billion, and in the first half of this year, it increased by 2.5 times, exceeding $8.3 billion. Putin added that this year, trade turnover could reach a record high of $14.16 billion. He also emphasized that Russia is Armenia’s largest investor, with about $4 billion invested.
“I’m pleased to note that in recent months, we’ve had active political dialogue. Deputy Prime Minister Overchuk visited Armenia, and in early October, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council session took place in Yerevan. We had a substantial discussion on almost all matters of our agenda,” said Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan.
According to Pashinyan, the meeting with Putin provides an opportunity to summarize those discussions.
Putin invited Pashinyan to participate in the BRICS summit in Kazan, adding that there will also be a bilateral meeting and an opportunity to talk with other country leaders.
