Nikol Pashinyan on settlement of Armenian-Turkish relations

It was the first meeting with Erdoğan, I got a generally positive impression. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this in an interview to the Public Television Company, referring to the Armenian-Turkish relations.
According to the Prime Minister, he had a telephone conversation with the President of Turkey earlier and he evaluates the telephone conversation and the meeting positively.
“My impression is that our talks are not incompatible, and if there is consistent work, if there is political will and desire, these talks can be reconciled with each other, which means the regulation of relations,” said the Prime Minister.
As for the problem of Turkey making the settlement of relations dependent on the Karabakh conflict, Nikol Pashinyan said: “Yes, it is said without preconditions, but we all know that Azerbaijan is present in that conversation. That is, we know it, but at least it is recorded at the official level that relations should be regulated without preconditions, at least it is not bad, because it could be recorded at the official level that there is a precondition for the regulation of relations.”
The Prime Minister noted that as a result of the contact of the special representatives of the two countries and as a result of his two personal contacts with the President of Turkey, he sees that there are opportunities to solve the problems.
“But this does not mean that these issues will be resolved, it means that the conversation has started and is developing, and the conversation is not standing still. Now, if we manage to open the Armenia-Turkey border for citizens of a third country, this will be a very serious step forward, and we are working towards it now, but I don’t want to fall into illusions that we will solve this issue in a day or two or with one or two actions,” he said.
